Jobs

The job market in Horry County is tough.  With the influx of people moving here from all parts of the country combined with the influx of the illegal aliens, we have plenty of competition for our jobs. Recent studies have shown that the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area ranks in the bottom half of all 360 metropolitan areas in the country in income.  Why?  Because of the large number of service jobs that employ the tourism industry.  While this industry does provide a solid income for some, it can however be unreliable for a career. 

One thing we must do is take an active approach in attracting industry that is sure to increase wages of the Horry County citizens.  Additionally, if we adopt the illegal immigration resolution, we are sure to free up thousands of jobs which would then be available for those unemployed in Horry County and create competition between the businesses to lure in the best and brightest of Horry County.  With my proposal, our standard of living would be raised, not lowered.
